You can save a still as either PNG or JPEG. A quick way to remember which to pick: P for Perfect — use PNG when you want lossless quality and every detail preserved, like diagrams or logos. JPEG is lossy and compresses more aggressively, so file sizes stay smaller and writes are faster — a solid default for everyday photos when you do not need pixel-perfect fidelity.
